Contract manufacturing tracking: every manufacturer, from order to shipment, on one record.
Pimland tracks contract manufacturing in one supplier portal: order and tech pack sharing, production progress and estimated delivery, delay alerts, quality inspections and supplier scores on the same record. The answer to “Where is my order?” sits on a dashboard, not in a phone call.
Orders in a spreadsheet, tech packs in email. Production status lives on WhatsApp.
- ✕“Where is my order?” gets asked by phone every day; the answer lives in someone’s memory, not on a dashboard.
- ✕Tech packs and BOMs go out by email after every revision; the wrong version can end up in production.
- ✕A slipped delivery date is noticed only when the goods do not arrive.
- ✕Inline and final inspection findings stay on paper; no one tracks whether the corrective action was closed.
- ✕Which manufacturer delivered on time and which one had quality rejections is not on record; at season end, the choice is guesswork again.
From order to traceability, step by step.
Order and tech pack
A purchase order is opened and materials are assigned per supplier. The tech pack and BOM come from the product record in PLM, and the order stays linked to the BOM.
Supplier portal
The manufacturer receives the tech pack and BOM snapshot and shares documents through its own portal. Revisions are versioned and compared, and communication stays on record instead of in email.
Production progress and delivery date
The manufacturer updates production progress and estimated delivery in the portal. Every order is visible on one board, an automatic delay alert fires when a delivery date is at risk, and shipments are followed with invoice reconciliation.
Quality inspection
Inline, final and pre-shipment inspections are recorded with their findings. When a defect appears, a corrective action (CAR) is opened and tracked until it is closed; test and certification tracking sits in the same place.
Scoring and traceability
Each manufacturer is scored automatically on on-time delivery, quality rejections and communication speed, and rising risk is flagged early. Origin and production route data feed the Digital Product Passport.

Contract manufacturing tracking FAQ
It is software that follows the order placed with a contract manufacturer, the shared tech pack and BOM, production progress, the delivery date, quality inspections and supplier performance on one record. In Pimland this runs in the SRM module, on the same data model as PLM and PIM, so “Where is my order?” is answered from one record.
Each manufacturer uses its own supplier portal. Onboarding, contracts and documents are kept in the portal; the manufacturer receives tech packs and BOM snapshots there and updates production progress and estimated delivery there. Communication is logged and transparent for both sides.
Production progress and estimated delivery, as updated by the manufacturer, appear on one board together with the orders. When a delivery date is at risk the system raises an automatic delay alert, and AI detects rising risk per supplier and suggests rotation. A slip is noticed in advance, not when the goods fail to arrive.
Pimland imports your existing product data and connects to your ERP and e-commerce channels; our team supports setup, mapping and training. Once manufacturers start using their own portals, messages and status updates come together on one record. Timing depends on your product volume and integrations; a typical brand goes live within a few weeks.
Origin, production route and sourcing data are recorded in SRM while production is tracked. Pimland’s DPP module builds the passport automatically from this existing data in PLM, SRM and PIM, so the same information is not collected again for the passport.
